Junior High Band News

  • RMS Band Film Festival featuring the 7th & 8th grade band, the Bucket Drum Group & Chicks With Sticks will be March 28th at 7pm in the RHS Performing Arts Center.
  • 7th & 8th grade Solo & Ensemble contest at Clinton-Massie High School is April 16th.
  • It's Official....The 7th & 8th Grade Concert Band will be performing at Kings Island on Saturday, May 14th.

If you have a child on the Winter Percussion Team and/or Winter Guard we have provided some information for the MEPA competitions below: MEPA Website

The dates for the MEPA competitions are as follows: (times TBA)

  • 1/29/11 Miamisburg, OH
  • 2/13/11 Kettering, OH
  • 2/26/11 Hamilton, OH
  • 3/13/11 Centerville, OH
  • 4/2 or 4/3 MEPA Championship-Nutter Center

Students participating in the Winter Percussion Team are Aron Asher, Josh Lierer, Jacob Lutow, Eric Henggeler, John Dougherty, Kristen Glore, Olivia Wallace, Matt Seim and Kelly Praechter.

Winter Percussion Team will be having rehearsals on Mondays from 6:30pm till 8:30pm and Thursdays from 3:45pm till 5:30pm and will be having Percussion Camp on 12/28 and 12/29 from 10am till 4pm.

Below is a link to print-out a copy of the sign-up sheet for buying "seats" on the state busses.  Please print out the sheet and either, purchase your tickets at the marching band concert, or return it to Mr. Roemer by October 28th, if you plan on riding the bus.  This is a first come first serve sale.  The cost of a seat on the charter/tour bus is $10 each - this will help off set the cost of renting the busses.  Please remember that the band, guard, and prop kid members get to ride for free.
 
Meeting times for Novemeber 7th. "State Competition"
1:00pm - Band/Guard members meet for rehearsal at RHS.
2:00pm - Load Busses
Dinner stop on the way to "State".  Bring money for fast food stop.
4:45pm - Arrive at Welcome Stadium, Dayton
6:45pm - Performance Time

The High School Band & Guard are going to State Competition........

The Ross High School band has qualified for the 26th consecutive year for the OMEA State Marching Band Finals!  This qualification is the result of much hard work and dedication on everyone's part - students, parents, and directors.  Thanks to all the pit crew and chaperons for helping to get us this far.  I have attached a link regarding State - videos, schedules, t-shirts, directions and a link to print off the order form for the video. http://www.davidsonbands.org/omea_main.html Video Order Form

State Competition will be on Sunday, November 7th.  Performance time will be 6:45pm at Dayton Welcome Stadium. Three Charter/Tour busses have been reserved, so the band and guard can arrive in style.  If you would like to join the band, you can purchase "seats" to ride along on the bus.  The seats will sell for $10 each.  The band, guard, and prop kid members get to ride for free. More information about meeting times and a sign-up sheet to buy seats will be emailed home later this week. You can also purchase seats at the marching band concert.

  • Oct. 21st (Thur.)-Marching Band Concert: Band members should be in their seats at 6:15pm and the concert starts at 7:00pm in the Auditorium
  • Oct. 22nd (Friday)-Home Football Game-Mt. Healthy, band/guard members should be in their seats at 6:15pm; also it is RHS Band Costume Night, all band, guard, prop kinds and directors are encourage to dress up for the game. Please be sure costumes are appropriate for school and you are able to play your instrument or perform your routine. Finally, the Juniors are responsible for the hospitality for this game.
  • Oct. 23rd (Sat.)-Double Competition day!! Band/Guard members should meet at RHS at 11:00am and we will be leaving RHS at 12:30pm. Band performs at 3:00pm at Anderson and we will be leaving after the performance and will eat in route to Bloom Carroll. Please be sure to bring money for food. We will then arrive at Bloom Carroll High School at 7:30pm and we perform at Bloom Carroll at 9:00pm, finally the awards are at 10:30pm. We are due back at RHS around 12:30am. Per Hospitality: Band/Guard parents, please consider donating some small snacks for this double competition day!!

  • Oct. 16th (Sat.)-Hamilton High Band Competition. Band/Guard members need to meet at RHS at 2:30pm for rehearsal and Mr Roemer plans to leave for Hamilton at 4pm
  • Oct. 18th-22nd-Jazz Band Audition will be held, please see Mr Roemer to sign-up for an audition.
  • Oct. 21st (Thurs.) Marching Band Concert at 7pm, more information to come.

Ross Band Families

  • Friday, Sept. 24- Senior Band and Future Ram Band Night
  • Friday, Sept. 24- All Band members 7th thru 12th grade, and their parents, are invited to the tailgate party beginning at 5pm in the yard area by the high school band door #6
  • Friday, Sept. 24- All Sophomores & Freshman are in charge of donating toward the hospitality table- please keep in mind it is "Future Ram Band Night"
  • Saturday, Sept. 25- High School Band Competition at Grove City. Meet in the band room by 2pm. Bring money for a dinner stop on the way to Grove City. The band will perform at 8:30pm. Click on the following link to get information and directions to the Grove City Competition.

Reminders from Mr. Roemer: Friday (Sept. 17): High School Band should report to band room by 4:30pm for uniforms and loading. Leaving for West Carrollton at 5pm.

Saturday (Sept. 18): High School Band should report to band room by 3pm for rehearsal and loading. Leaving for Tipp City at 4:15pm. All band members should remember to bring their blue show shirts. We will stop to eat on the way, so bring dinner money. We will most likely be home about 11:30pm.

Reminders from the Boosters:

Friday (Sept. 24): Band Tailgate Party beginning at 5pm. We are still in need of food/drink donations (chili, shredded cheese, grated onions, snack bags of Fritos, mustard, ketchup, cans of pop-Pepsi products only, or you are welcome to make a cash donation to help pay for supplies). If you can donate any of the following please contact Diann at diann.bielefeld@rossrams.com

Friday (Oct 1): Homecoming-We still need co-chairpersons to help organize the chili supper. Please contact Cindy Kuhn at cindy23@netzero.net if you can help.

We also need a volunteer to drive the 5th & 6th grade band in the parade. If you have a pick-up truck and access to a 18-24' trailer, please consider volunteering. All you need to do is drive-all the other work with the children is done. Please contact Pam at rggiuliano@aol.com if you can volunteer. If no one comes forward we may not be able to include the 5th and 6th grade in the parade.
