RHS Band is About to Begin!!

High School Band season begins on July 22 with the Parent Band Camp Meeting and the Band Boosters' Open House.

The Open House will begin @ 5:30pm and run until the Camp meeting @ 6pm.  The Open House will continue after the meeting.  You can pay camp balances, turn in paperwork, and sign-up for various volunteer opportunities. 

Pre-Camp for students will run July 23 - 26 from 9-noon in the band room.

Band Camp runs July 28 - 31 at Camp Lebanon.

Professional Performance Requirement

Each year High school band students are required to attend at least one professional performance to complete the recital attendance portion of their grade in band.  This can be any type of musical performance which involves professional musicians performing.  This cannot be a high school or junior high school concert.  This performance must be a concert featuring instruments, and it can be a free or a paid event.  For example an orchestra concert or a rock band performance would be fine. 

2013 Ross Band Savings Cards Are Now On Sale.

The 2013 cards are now for sale for $5.00 each and the discounts are good all year long. There are many great discounts at local businesses like; Angilo's Pizza, Baker Hardware, Cappuccino Depot, Country Barrel, Country Corner, Gold Star Chili, Great American Cookie, Laptop Plus, Max Stacy Flowers, Old Mill Country Gifts, Ross Bakery, Ross Hardware, Ross Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Eli's Sports Bar & Grill, Renck's Garden Center, Tragesser Automotive, & Willis Music.

The Ross Band Cards will be sold by Mr. Roemer at Ross High School, Mrs. Duncan at Ross Middle School, Mrs. Stapleton at Elda Elementary, and Mrs. Morrissey at Morgan Elementary.

They will also be available for purchase at the Ross Middle School Band Concert on December 13th, 2012 and Ross High School Band Concert on December 20th, 2012.

Ross High School Summer Uniform

Pictured is the summer uniform. Each member is responsible for purchasing their own khaki pants.  The pants need to be full length, medium colored khaki, twill pants.  NO cargo, denim, or capri's.

The Ross High School Marching Band is going to Disney World!

The Ross High School Marching Band and has been accepted to perform at Walt Disney World in 2013!  This is an honor for the Ross Band as Disney has a very stringent selection policy for groups who wish to perform at the parks.  The Ross School District has given approval for the band to take the trip.  This trip is optional and self funded.  The trip is during next year's Spring Break, so students will not miss school. We will leave Ross on March 23, 2013 and return home March 29, 2013.  All high school band students, their parents, and younger siblings are eligible to come on this trip.  If a parent wishes to join us, they will come along as a chaperone.  We will be taking Lakefront Motor Coaches for the trip.

Cost is based on the trip price plus transportation.  Admission to the Disney parks, Medieval Times Dinner Theater, several meals, hotel fees, and transportation are all included.  We will be stopping at Cocoa Beach on the way to Orlando.  The trip fluctuates in cost based on how many people we have on the trip.  The lowest the trip will cost per student is $650.00, and the most would be $710.00.  All band members will stay 4 per room.  Parents can team up with other parents in rooms to help lower price.  The fewer people per room the more expesive.

To guarantee your spot on the trip, Mr. Roemer needs a $50 deposit (non refundable) per person by the end of May.  After all of the deposits are collected, and a count of everyone going is taken, a firm price for the trip will be set.  Be sure to check your email for further information, or contact Mr. Roemer with questions.

 The cards are selling for $5.00 each - cash or check (payable to Ross Band Boosters).  - You can buy your cards from either Mr. Roemer or Mrs. Duncan.  The cards will also be on sale at both the middle school & high school band concerts, and a few select home basketball games.  - The Savings Card sale is a great fundraiser for the band and it offers great savings for the buyers.  You can use the card as much as you want all year long. - Participating business are: Angilo's Pizza, Baker Hardware, Country Barrel, Country Corner, Eli's Sports Bar & Grill, Gold Star Chili, Great American Cookie, Max Stacy Flowers, Old Mill Country Gifts, Renck's Garden Center, Ross Bakery, Ross Hardware, Ross Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Biscuit Bath & Beyond, and Willis Music. 

December Band Events

December is a busy month for both the Ross Middle School and High School Bands.  The following are important dates on where you can see and hear the wonderful sounds of the Ross Bands.

  • December 15 - RMS 5th, 6th, & Junior High Bands perform their Winter Concert in the high school auditorium beginning 7pm.
  • December 17 - RHS Jazz Band performs @ 2pm in the Rotunda of the Cincinnati Museum Center (Union Terminal).  Click on this link to get directions and plan a visit; http://www.cincymuseum.org/.
  • December 20 - RHS Concert Band and Jazz Band perform in the high school auditorium beginning at 7pm.
